Help A Start Up
Looking for an easy, low-effort way to help a startup this week? Here are 10 ideas.
1️⃣ Share a job posting.
Spend 5 minutes sharing the startup’s job openings with your LinkedIn network or internal Slack channels. Your post could be responsible for finding a unicorn candidate.
2️⃣ Make a warm introduction.
Think of one person in your network who could be a game-changer for the startup -- maybe a potential customer, partner or investor. Send a quick email intro.
3️⃣ Review a deck or important email.
Ask the founder to share their pitch deck, or a key email they’re about to send. Spend 10 minutes reviewing it and suggesting improvements.
4️⃣ Promote them on social media.
Give the startup a shoutout on social media. A quick LinkedIn post or tweet about their product could drive traffic and increase credibility.
5️⃣ Introduce them to beta testers.
Share their product with a few friends or colleagues who’d be willing to give honest feedback on their offering.
6️⃣ Schedule a 1-1 workshop in your area of expertise.
Block off ~1-hour of your time to offer a design workshop to give feedback on their website or UI design. Or GTM strategy, wherever your area of expertise lies.
7️⃣ Test their product.
Spend 15 minutes using their app, site or tool, and provide feedback on usability or features.
8️⃣ Introduce them to relevant communities.
Share Slack groups, online forums or niche communities where their ideal audience hangs out. This can help them find new customers or supporters.
9️⃣ Send a customer referral.
Think of one company, team or individual who would benefit from the startup’s offering, and connect them with the founder.
🔟 Recommend a service provider.
Help them find a trusted accountant, lawyer or agency by recommending someone you’ve worked with before.
